Enabling Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)

Two-factor authentication is a security process that requires two forms of ID when you sign in, supercharging your account security!

2FA Options

Monex USA helps keep your account secure by offering multiple options for enabling two-factor authorization.

  1. Text Message - Receive an SMS message with a verification code to your mobile device.

  2. Authentication App - Use any authenticator app to generate your verification code. (Ex: Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator)


How to Enable 2FA

If you haven't set up 2FA for your Monex USA account, you will be required to set it up when you log in.

Text Message (SMS) Instructions

  1. Click the toggle button to enable SMS 2FA

  2. Enter your mobile phone number

    1. If you have an international number, select the correct Country Code in the dropdown

    2. Click Send Code

  3. Enter the 6-digit code that was sent to your mobile phone via SMS

    1. Click Validate Code


Authentication App Instructions

  1. Download an Authentication App on your mobile phone (Ex: Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator, Authy)

    1. If you are not able to use a mobile phone for 2FA, Click Here for instructions on how to set up 2FA on a Desktop App

  2. Click the toggle button to enable the Authentication App 2FA

  3. In your Authentication App - Scan the QR code or enter the 36 character code

    1. Once you have scanned the QR code, enter the 6-digit code from your Authentication App into the field shown.

    2. Click Enroll


How to Change your 2FA Settings

  1. On the dashboard, locate your account name on the top right of the page, click on your name, and then select User Settings.

  2. On the user settings page, select SECURITY.

  3. In the SECURITY section, locate the Two-factor authentication toggle and select it to either toggle the extra security layer on or off.

  4. Click Save
